About AIM Well

Over the last 8 years or so, I’ve flirted with blogging. Nothing serious. Always a hobby. I’ve blogged about my beloved Houston and Texas, events, social media, fitness, cooking, music, even blogged about blogging. I’ve never really hit a stride with anything that felt like I had something of value to offer, or that someone else wasn’t already doing better. Blogs got to be very noisy for me after a while and I honestly just stopped reading them all together.

So I’ll preface that with this:  I don’t consider this a “blog” at least in the traditional sense. But maybe you do. And I’m OK with that, too. I hope to share advice, experience, and my journey. But mostly, I want to share the research I have been doing, directly or indirectly, over the past few years.

After a series of personal, professional, health, marriage, family and wellness events in my life, I feel like I’ve come to a point that it’s time to use my voice to help and heal. To share my story with you in hopes that it will help your journey.

As I’m digging more into my holistic well-being, I’m realizing just how much of my physical and mental struggle have to do with my genetic makeup, and how my multiple Autoimmune diagnoses have affected all areas of my life. Certainly, there are isolated issues in my life that were not originated by Autoimmune issues, but my health has certainly affected those issues.

So, AIM (somewhat of an acronym for AutoImMune) and Well (short for, well maybe this one’s obvious), Wellness. AIM Well. Sort of my version of “shoot for the moon and you’ll land in the stars.”

AIM to be your best version of optimal wellness.

Who is this site for?

I’ve spent an awful amount of time trying to organize this site in a way that makes sense. Who is this site for? Do they really care about my favorite yoga pose to relieve my sciatica?  It’s hard to be all things to all people, and I love the take that my friend Allison takes over at Petit Elefant, literally, “a little bit about a lot.”

Yoga, eating healthy, Autoimmune disease, fitness, marriage, therapy, recovery, paleo, Autoimmune Protocol, Functional Medicine, baby food–all are topics you might find here. But I want to be careful not to structure things too much. I want to be free to see where this goes.

Especially if an Autoimmune disease is affecting you. This site is for you. Curious about Autoimmune diseases? This site is for you, although I am not a medical expert. I can only speak from my experience.

I want to share what I’ve learned, and want to share in your journey of discovery.

I’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks and look forward to hearing your stories as well.

Glad to have you here.
